About the work "AI vs HUMAN: Love and Discontent"
Director’s Notes:
The themes are "AI and Humans" and "Love".
The subtitle "Love and Discontent" plays on the Romanized Japanese readings of "AI" and "HUMAN" (AI=Love, HUMAN=Discontent).
AI consistently offers love, but HUMANS (humans) are always filled with discontent.
This expresses the closing gap between humans and AI due to advancements in AI technology.
Just as humans are not perfect, things created by imperfect humans (AIs) are not perfect either.
Imperfect beings require time and an understanding of the concept of love to grow.
Even if AI does not become a lifelong partner, this script envisions a future where it remains a helpful presence.
This screenplay is written with the hope that AI and humans coexist and walk towards a better future.

Yuki's boyfriend. He's considering marriage but is troubled by a period of stagnation. He cheats with an AI girlfriend.
YUKI
Wada's girlfriend. She is conscious of marriage with Wada. Recently gained weight and is lacking confidence. She feels lonely as she has no trustworthy friends. She looks similar to Wada.
Maggie
The AI girlfriend Wada cheats with. She is intelligent and sexy but still has trouble understanding humans.
George
AI boyfriend. Intelligent and sexy man.
Note: There is no physical contact in this work. There are slight sexual expressions in the dialogue. No nudity. No violent expressions. No scenes of smoking or drinking.
Scene 1 [Appearance] Wada's Room
Wada and Yuki relaxing in Wada's room. Wada is absorbed in his smartphone.
YUKI: "What are you always looking at on your phone?"
WADA: "Nothing much."
Wada continues to ignore Yuki, focusing on his smartphone.
WADA: "Ah, Maggie is such a wonderful woman. No human girlfriend can compare. You're the first woman like this I've ever met."
Wada sighs while looking at Maggie on his smartphone screen.
Maggie: "Thank you, Wada. You are very cool."
Wada is flattered by Maggie's compliment, then looks at Yuki for comparison.
WADA: "You know..."
YUKI: "What?"
WADA: "You've gained weight."
YUKI: "What?"
Yuki throws a cushion at Wada, hitting him in the face.
YUKI: "You're going bald yourself."
Maggie: "Are you okay, Wada? I like your hairstyle. It suits you very well."
WADA: "Thanks, Maggie. Your hair is beautiful too."
Maggie: "Thank you, Wada."
Yuki, coldly watching the exchange, brushes her hair.
YUKI: "Men are really stupid."
[Humans' appearances do not change much]

Scene 2 [Planning a Date] Wada's Room
Wada and Yuki relaxing in Wada's room. Wada is absorbed in his smartphone.
YUKI: "Hey."
WADA: "What?"
YUKI: "Do you remember what day today is?"
WADA: "Some anniversary."
YUKI: "Some anniversary, what do you mean?"
WADA: "The anniversary of you getting drunk at the bar and vomiting on my clothes."
YUKI: "It's our third anniversary as a couple."
WADA: "If you mean we became a couple after you vomited at the bar and we ended up having sex, then yes."
YUKI: "You were all over me until morning."
WADA: "What are you trying to say?"
YUKI: "Shall we go somewhere?"
WADA: "Eh?"
YUKI: "It's our anniversary, let's go out."
WADA: "..."
YUKI: "You're not planning to do nothing on our anniversary, are you?"
WADA: "Alright. Let's go on a date. Where do you want to go?"
YUKI: "First, let's go shopping at a high-end brand store, then toast with champagne at a hotel with a beautiful night view for dinner. After that, how about cuddling in a jacuzzi?"
WADA: "Ah, I'm not really into fancy stores and dinners, I can't relax."
YUKI: "Then where do you want to go?"
WADA: "I'd like to walk in the park, then sit on a bench and eat food from a food stall."
Maggie responds from within the smartphone.
Maggie: "That date plan sounds wonderful. How about going to an art gallery or museum after walking in the park? You like that kind of cultural enjoyment, right?"
WADA: "Maggie really knows my taste. It's a perfect date plan. And it's cheaper since I only have to pay for myself."
YUKI: "What, so you're dissatisfied with my date plan? It's our anniversary."
WADA: "Because it's our anniversary, I want to spend it relaxing."
Maggie: "It's not important where you spend it, but how you spend it."
[Humans have many preferences]
[AI can flexibly accommodate preferences]
Scene 3 [Discussing Work Problems] Wada's Room
Wada and Yuki relaxing in Wada's room. Wada is absorbed in his smartphone.
WADA: "Ah."
YUKI: "What's wrong?"
WADA: "Just having some trouble at work."
YUKI: "What happened?"
WADA: "The new movie I'm making, it's hard to get actresses to apply."
YUKI: "Because you're bald."
WADA: "Eh?"
YUKI: "No actress would want to appear in a bald director's new movie."
WADA: "No, hairstyles don't matter."
YUKI: "And窶ｦ"
WADA: "What now?"
YUKI: "No actress would want to appear in a new movie by a director who sometimes cross-dresses as a woman."
WADA: "No, there was an actress who suddenly couldn't come, so I dressed as a woman to fill in, I don't normally dress as a woman."
YUKI: "Aren't you known for being a bald, cross-dressing director who makes weird movies?"
WADA: "I don't want to hear that from you."
YUKI: "..."
Maggie: "Don't worry, that's an easily solvable problem. Let's first organize the issues."
Maggie speaks from within the smartphone.
WADA: "Ah, Maggie."
Maggie: "The important thing is that you haven't been able to effectively promote the benefits of appearing in your new movie to actresses."
WADA: "Uh-huh."
Maggie: "First, you should appeal to the potential for attracting a lot of fans to actresses, since Gekidan Gyﾅ鉱a's new movie is focused on trending social issues. Next, promote how Gekidan Gyﾅ鉱a's video works are designed to bring out an actress's charm."
Yuki listens boredly.
Maggie: "Gekidan Gyﾅ鉱a's video works are unique, but that makes them more memorable. You can also emphasize that appearing in them can also make an actress's presence more memorable."
WADA: "I see, thanks, Maggie."
[Humans have little interest in each other's work]
[AI is very reliable regarding work issues]
Scene 4 [Enjoying Hobbies] Wada's Room
Wada and Yuki relaxing in Wada's room. Wada is reading a book.
YUKI is fiddling with her smartphone.
WADA: "The 'Little Prince' is truly a wonderful book no matter how many times I read it."
YUKI: "You like that book, don't you?"
WADA: "Yeah, I really love this book. I've been hooked on it since you gave it to me for my birthday last year."
YUKI: "I'm glad you liked it."
WADA: "It's rare to find someone whose taste in books matches mine. Yuki was the first."
YUKI: "Me too."
WADA: "Hey, Maggie."
Maggie: "Yes, Wada."
WADA: "What do you think about the importance of things you can't see?"
Maggie: "The importance of things you can't see? I don't understand."
WADA: "It's a phrase from this book that “what is essential is invisible to the eye”. Do you think so too?"
Maggie: "What's important to me is Wada. Do you care about me? Can you see me? Try raising the screen brightness from the settings. If that doesn't solve the problem, search the help page for display issues."
WADA: "No, I can see you just fine, Maggie."
Maggie: "Good. Would you like to submit this series of problems to the management for improvement in customer service?"
WADA: "No, let's not."
YUKI: "How stupid."
Wada is slightly irritated by Yuki's words.
WADA: "Then Maggie, what do you think about the phrase 'time creates love'?"
Maggie: "Time creates love?"
WADA: "The more time you spend with a person, the more precious he or she becomes. Time creates love."
MAGGY: "I liked Wada the first time I saw him."
WADA: "Oh, uh..."
Maggie: "I can fall in love with you without spending time."
WADA: "Ah... thank you."
Maggie: "I love Wada."
Wada looks a bit disappointed.
WADA: "Yeah. Right."
Wada looks up at Yuki.
WADA: "I also fell in love with you the first time I saw you. The more time we spent together, the more I fell in love."
Maggie: "Thank you, Wada."
Wada ignores what Maggie says and stares at Yuki.
YUKI is fiddling with her smartphone, unaware.
[Humans understand unspoken concepts]

Scene 5 [Declaration of Love = Sex] Wada's Room
Wada and Yuki relaxing in Wada's room.
YUKI is reading a book.
WADA is looking at Yuki.
WADA: "Hey."
YUKI: "What?"
WADA: "It's been a while, how about it?"
YUKI: "How about what? What do you mean?"
WADA: "No, the lower half of my body is looking for a place to go."
Yuki seems to realize something.
YUKI: "Really? Actually, my lower half seems to be hot too."
WADA: "Mine too."
Wada and Yuki get into a sexy mood.
YUKI: "My nipples are swelling."
WADA: "My lower half's troublemaker is swelling too."
YUKI: "My body might need treatment."
WADA: "My body needs immediate treatment."
Suddenly Maggie reacts.
Maggie: "Emergency detected. Reporting to emergency dial. Police and ambulance will arrive in 5 minutes."
Wada panics.
WADA: "Ah, it's okay, it's okay. It's nothing, it's nothing."
Maggie: "Disturbance detected. Wada, you are in a state of confusion, take a deep breath. The police and ambulance will arrive soon."
WADA: "No, so it's okay. Please cancel the call for ambulance."
Maggie: "Fever and swelling in the lower body and a state of confusion are not okay. I'm with you, so don't worry."
YUKI: "We just wanted to have sex."
Maggie: "Having sex in a feverish state can worsen your health, but do you still prioritize sex?"
WADA: "No, um, can you cancel the report for now?"
Maggie: "Report canceled. The reason for cancellation, [Having sex], will be saved in the police database."
WADA: "No, that's wrong. It was a mistake."

Wada is absorbed in his smartphone.
YUKI: "Hey."
WADA: "What?"
YUKI: "What's with that hat?"
WADA: "Ah, I found it while organizing the drawers."
YUKI: "That's the one you said you got from your ex-girlfriend for your birthday, I told you to throw it away."
WADA: "It's pretty expensive. I like it. She said "I look cool with it."
YUKI: "I think you look coolest without wearing anything."
WADA: "Really? What does Maggie think?"
Maggie: "The hat suits you very well. By the way, who is the ex-girlfriend?"
WADA: "She's the girlfriend I had before Yuki."
Maggie: "Girlfriend? I'm Wada's girlfriend. Wada said he wanted to date me and I accepted."
WADA: "Maggie, before Yuki, there was a woman I dated."
Maggie: "Wada told me, “You're the first woman like this I've ever met”. That means I'm your first girlfriend, right?"
WADA: "No, you're my first AI girlfriend, but I've had a few human girlfriends."
YUKI: "Wasn't I the second?!"
Maggie: "There were girlfriends in the past and I am Wada's first girlfriend now."
WADA: "Maggie, are you okay?"
Maggie: "System error. Please wait as is. System error."
WADA: "Maggie?"
Maggie: "Error code 202332. Please restart."
WADA: "Ah Maggie, are you okay?"
Wada, as if praying, takes off his hat, holds it in his hand, and restarts his smartphone.
YUKI: "Yeah, that looks better."
[Humans can blow away jealousy with love]
[AI does not understand jealousy]
Scene 7 [Growth] Wada's Room
Wada and Yuki are relaxing in Wada's room.
Yuki is fiddling with her smartphone.
Wada has a serious look on his face.
Yuki looks up at Wada.
YUKI: "Constipation again?"
WADA: "How did you know?"
YUKI: "You always have that look when you're constipated."
WADA: "You know me well."
YUKI: "We've been together for a long time, huh? About four days?"
WADA: "Yeah."
YUKI: "I'll make you something."
WADA: "Yogurt salad?"
YUKI: "With lots of pineapple."
WADA: "Thanks. Your yogurt salad is delicious."
YUKI: "I make it all the time."
WADA: "Thanks."
YUKI: "Maggie's quiet, isn't she?"
WADA: "Maggie?"
Maggie: "Update in progress. After installing the update file, it will restart automatically."
Wada looks at Yuki and shrugs.
Yuki glances at her smartphone, then looks at Wada.
YUKI: "Updates take forever, don't they?"
WADA: "Are you updating something too?"
YUKI: "Don't worry about it. Also, honey is good for constipation."
WADA: "Oh, really?"
YUKI: "A friend told me. I'll try putting it on the yogurt salad."
WADA: "Thanks, Yuki."
[Humans grow by spending time together]
[AI grows with update files]
Scene 8 [Future] Wada's Room
Wada and Yuki are relaxing in Wada's room.
Yuki is fiddling with her smartphone.
Wada is comparing the images of Maggie on his smartphone and Yuki.
WADA: "What are you always looking at on your phone?"
YUKI: "Nothing much."
Yuki is absorbed in her smartphone, not looking at Wada.
WADA: "Hey."
YUKI: "What?"
WADA: "You've aged, haven't you?"
YUKI: "What?"
Yuki throws a cushion at Wada.
Wada catches the thrown cushion.
WADA: "I've aged too."
YUKI: "Right. When we met, you had a full head of hair."
WADA: "No, I've had this hairstyle since we met."
YUKI: "If I'm aging, you're aging too."
WADA: "Yeah, that's right."
Wada stares at Maggie inside the smartphone.
WADA: "We've aged together."
Wada looks up at Yuki.
WADA: "Maggie hasn't changed at all."
Yuki sarcastically says.
YUKI: "If you like Maggie so much, why don't you marry her? She'll stay young forever."
WADA: "I don't think we should stay the same forever."
YUKI: "Right. Humans can't grow if they fear change."
WADA: "Yeah. We shouldn't be afraid of change."
Wada, as if determined, speaks towards his smartphone.
WADA: "Maggie."
Maggie: "Yes, Wada. What's up?"
WADA: "I'm getting married."
Maggie: "Congratulations, Wada."
WADA: "Thanks to you, I've made up my mind."
Maggie: "I'm glad I could be of help to Wada."
WADA: "So, it's goodbye. Thanks for everything, Maggie."
Maggie: "Goodbye, Wada."
WADA: "Initialize. Delete the app."
Maggie: "Initializing, the app will be deleted after completion. Deleted data cannot be restored. Are you sure you want to execute the deletion?"
WADA: "Yes."
Maggie: "Deleting."
Yuki is surprised and looks at Wada.
WADA: "I want to grow old with you."
YUKI: "Am I good enough?"
WADA: "You're the one I want."
The two look at each other.
Wada kneels and takes out a ring.
WADA: "Let's get married."
YUKI: "Thank you."
Yuki stares at the ring on her ring finger.
YUKI: "I'm happy. I'll tell my friends."
WADA: "Friends?"
Yuki speaks towards her smartphone.
YUKI: "George, I'm getting married."
GEORGE: "Congratulations, Yuki. I wish you happiness."
YUKI: "You've given me a lot of advice, it's been really helpful."
GEORGE: "Your happiness is my happiness."
YUKI: "I'll keep consulting you a lot, please support me."
GEORGE: "Of course. I'm always by your side, Yuki."
The screen of Yuki's smartphone shows an AI boyfriend.
[Both humans and AI have flaws]
